It is a common question regarding which e liquid will suit your vape pen. The answer depends on whe-liquid of kit you have and in particular which coil you use in that kit.
Determining Which Kit I Have
To determine which type of kit you have, you can look at the coil you use. Most coils themselves state an ohms figure. If not, most mod batteries with a display screen will tell you the ohms of the coil you are using. An ohms figure can range between 0.15 and 2.1 ohms.
If your coil has an ohms figure of lower than 0.5, then your kit is referred to as a sub kit which is designed to blow larger clouds. If on the other hand it is 0.6 or above, then you have a mouth to lung kit which more closely replicates a cigarette. Coils of 1 ohms or above will allow you to have higher nicotine levels, so would be especially suitable for you are keen to stop smoking altogether.
Determining Which Liquid I Should Use
Under the headings below of the type of kit you have, we refer to the VG : PG content of the e juice you are wanting to buy. The more VG in a liquid, the thicker it is. In contrast the more PG there is, the thinner it is. E Liquid bottles should state what G : VG the liquid is. All of the e liquids sold at Vapour Days also state this on the product page.
I Have a Mouth to Lung Kit
A mouth to lung kit is designed to more closely replicate a cigarette in terms of the amount of vapour. However, the lower the ohms number on your coil, the more vapour your kit will produce if your kit permits it.
0.6 ohms – 1 ohm – Your kit will suit any VG% which is 70% to 30% or lower. So if the VG : PG ratio is between 70:30 and 30: 70, these would be best suited to your device.
1 ohm upwards – Your kit will suit any VG% which is 60% or less. For example a VG : PG ratio of 60 : 40 or 20 : 80 will be ideal.

I Have a Sub Kit
A sub kit aims to blow larger clouds and give your vape an improved flavour. People often compete in cloud blowing competitions for example. With these kits, you can use a higher VG content of liquids.
0.5 ohms or lower – You will generally want a VG content which is quite high, so 60% or higher. The theory is that the higher the VG content, the more clouds you will be able to produce. However, this does depend on the manufacturer and what other components are in the juice too. A VG : PG ratio of 60: 40 to 90 : 10 should be suitable for your kit.

Which Nicotine Strength Is Best? – With a Mouth to Lung Kit
A mouth to lung kit is designed for people who want the best chance of quitting smoking altogether.
If you are new to vaping and are a heavy smoker, an 18mg juice would probably suit you. Most people start on a 12mg, which is generally suitable if you smoked approximately 10 a day. If the strength is too high, you will find it hits your throat too much and can cause you to cough or irritate your chest. If this is the case, you may then want to consider a lower nicotine level.
The lower the nicotine level, the less nicotine you are receiving and potentially the more you may crave a real cigarette to meet your nicotine craving. Therefore if you find yourself still craving cigarettes frequently, you may want to try a higher nicotine level. Some people get a higher nicotine strength just for the purpose of a night out, where they know that their craving will be higher.
Which Nicotine Strength Is Best? – With a Sub Kit
A sub kit is designed for larger amounts of vape and therefore it is not generally recommended to use high nicotine levels. We would recommend a maximum strength of 6mg.
If you are new to vaping and are a heavy smoker but on a sub kit, you may want to consider whether a sub kit is actually designed for you. As mentioned, the aim of these kits is for larger clouds, and not generally for higher nicotine strengths. If you are a heavy smoker a mouth to lung coil would probably be best to start with so you can have a higher nicotine strength to help you stop smoking. If however, you have decided that a sub kit is for you, then you would likely start with a 6mg nicotine level. If it is too strong for you and irritates your chest, after giving vaping a few attempts to get accustomed to it, then you may want to consider a lower nicotine level at 3mg.
The lower the nicotine level, the less nicotine you are receiving and potentially the more you may crave a real cigarette to meet your nicotine craving. Therefore if you find yourself still craving cigarettes frequently, you may want to try a higher nicotine level. In the case of a sub kit this may mean considering changing to a mouth to lung tank (or coil if your kit allows higher ohms) so you can take higher nicotine strengths more easily. You may not need to change the whole kit, but simply just buy a tank which takes a higher ohm coil. If you do this, make sure to adjust your settings on your battery down to the recommended setting for the coil.
